Landau, Peter

Peter Landau, a long-time resident of Chappaqua, NY and recently Pleasantville, NY, died on Feb. 27, 2013, after a long illness. He was 81. Born and raised in Brooklyn, NY, he graduated from Syracuse University with a BA in Political Science in 1953. He served during the Korean Conflict, stationed in Germany from 1953-1955, as a public information officer. When his service ended, Peter entered a combined program at Cornell University's Law School and Business School, earning both a law degree and a MBA. He was admitted to the Bar in 1959. Peter gained experience at the SEC in Washington, DC and then began a long and successful career as a corporate and securities attorney in private practice in Manhattan. In his leisure time, he was active in the community, including terms as President of the Birchwood Swim and Tennis Club in Chappaqua and Chairman of the New Castle Democratic Committee.

Survivors include his wife of 60 years, Renee Branse Landau; his brother, William Landau of Hankins, NY; his three daughters, Stephanie Landau of Ridgefield, CT, Elizabeth Ammirato of Mahopac, NY and Jennifer Landau of Pleasantville, NY; and his five grandchildren, Jessica and Trip Cowin, Michael and Sarah Ammirato and Caleb Landau.
