James Fitzmaurice of Pearl River passed away April 1, 2013 at the age of 82. Born on April 26, 1930, James was raised in the Bronx, NY and attended St. Nicholas of Tolentine on Fordham Road. James enjoyed his career of over 30 years with the NY Telephone Company. After retiring, James co-founded and was the "CEO" of Leprechaun Electric.
James was an active member of the American Legion and the Ancient Order of Hibernians, where he was dubbed "Pub Chairman". One of his proudest moments was acting as the Grand Marshall for the AOH in the 2002 Pearl River St. Patrick's Day Parade.
Pre deceased by his wife of over 50 years Mary (2010), James is survived by his devoted children, James Jr., Nancy, Eileen, Anastasia, Mary Ann and Catherine, and cherished grandchildren Alexandra, Ryan, Sarah, Meghan, James III and Fiona.
James will be remembered for his quick wit and hearty laugh. He had a large network of friends from the old neighborhood and new friends from his 40 years living in Pearl River. Jimmy was lovingly cared for in his last years by his devoted ladies, Closette, Elaine, Eggy and Kim.
Family will receive friends Thursday from 2-4pm and 7-9pm at Assumma-Shankey Funeral Home in Pearl River.
A mass of Christian burial will be held at St. Margaret's Church Friday at 11 am. Burial to follow at Cemetery of the Ascension in Airmont, NY.
