Peter Small, beloved husband, father, grandfather, uncle and friend. We have lost a great man. Master artist, musician, lover of chamber music, prolific reader, lifelong liberal, wordsmith, baker, golfer, perennial optimist, "Poppy" was one-of-a-kind. He will be remembered for his concise and intelligent summation of complex ideas. He will be remembered for his unflinching generosity and loyalty; his independent and rebellious spirit; his wit. Peter was a graduate of the University of Chicago. He was honorably discharged as a member of the United States Armed Forces of World War II. He managed his own mail order business for forty years and was the guiding force behind Friends of Music chamber music concerts in Northern Westchester. Peter played in his own string quartet for decades and later in life found clay sculpting as his main expression. Peter leaves behind his beloved wife of 63 years, Beatrice; daughter Andrea (Hans Schoenecker); son Eric (Dina Lehrer); grandsons Asher and Leo Lehrer-Small; sisters Claire Javna (Steven) and Nina Salamon; and sister-in-law Joan Small. In addition he leaves behind beloved nieces and nephews and many friends. He was predeceased by father Marvin Small and mother Blanche Small; brother Roger Small; brother-in-law Sigismund Salamon. He was adored by his wife, children and grandchildren and will be sorely missed by the many loved ones who experienced his unique way of expressing his humanness. A Graveside Service will be held 12:00 Noon, Thursday, April 4th at the Cedar Park Cemetery, Paramus, NJ. To offer condolences or for directions, please visit: eocurryfuneralhome.com
