Kathleen Margaret Eaton, 73, passed away peacefully at Riverside Regional Medical Center in Newport News, Virginia on Tuesday, April 30, 2013. Kathleen, widow of George Harris Eaton, is survived by her loving sons, Gregory Harris and James Andrew; her grandsons, Andrew Harris, Michael James and Gabriel Harris; her twin brother, Joseph J. Cain Jr.; her sister, Karen Hoy; her niece, Ann Scott Davis, and her nephew, Jon Scott.

She was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania on October 2, 1939. Kathleen received a B.A. in music education from Temple University. She was a devoted wife to George, a loving mother to Gregory and James, and made her career as a talented vocal and piano performer, music teacher and director of musical theater. Throughout her career, she performed in opera and musical comedies in 42 states, including with The Metropolitan Opera and The National Opera. As a long-time resident of Suffern, New York and Smithfield, Virginia, she was well-known for her musical directorships; in Suffern with the Sacred Heart Players and Antrim Theater, and in Smithfield as a director of four musicals for Smithfield Little Theatre. Kathleen was a member of The Woman's Club of Smithfield, Actors' Equity, The American Guild of Musical Artists and Rockland County Music Teachers Association.

Kathleen's family will receive friends at 1 p.m. Saturday, May 4 at Church of the Good Shepherd, 300 Smithfield Blvd., Smithfield, Virginia, with a funeral mass to follow at 2:30 p.m., Rev. Fr. Oscar Parasio presiding, and a burial to follow at St. Luke's Cemetery, 14477 Benn's Church Boulevard, Smithfield, Virginia. The family suggests memorial donations may be made to S.H.A.R.E. Society for Hospital and Resource Exchange of Washingtonville, New York ( Arrangements are in the care of Colonial Funeral Home, Smithfield, VA.
