John F. Jones III (Jack) passed away peacefully on June 2, 2013 with his loving family by his side at Westchester Medical Center due to complications from Lymphoma. Jack was born on May 24, 1945 in Suffern, NY to John and Elizabeth (Ubertino) Jones. He attended St. Peter's school in Haverstraw and Haverstraw High School, graduating in 1963. He served honorably in the US Air Force from 1963-1967. Jack was a member of the NY District Council of Carpenters until retirement in 2002. He was an active member of the Rockland Rodders and could be found hanging with his '71 Monti on Friday nights in Pearl River with his friends. Jack was also a member of the Clarkstown West Nyack Senior Club. Jack leaves behind his loving wife, Madeline (Thornby); his children, Kimberly Daling (Martin), Bobby Nigro (Jackie), Brian Nigro (Karen), Valerie Bruno (Bobby); and his sister, Lynda Thomas (Bill); brothers-in-law, Jim and Tom Thornby and their wives, Chris and Debra; his sister-in-law, Terri Walsh and husband Pat; as well as many nieces and nephews, including his faithful nephew, Jack Culwell; his uncles, Jim and Sylvester Jones and many cousins also survive him. Poppy will be missed most by his 13 adoring grandchildren, Alexis, Emma & David Daling, Brendan & Olivia Nigro, Brian, Ben, Danielle & Caroline Nigro, and Samantha, Gianna, Frankie & Ayla Bruno. He was never too busy to spend time with them, either sitting with one or two of them on his lap in his recliner or cheering them on at a sporting events, or school concerts. He will always be alive in their memories and hearts. He was the best. Jack was predeceased by his parents and sister, Carol Culwell. Family will receive friends on Thursday from 2-4 & 7-9pm at Higgins Funeral Home in New City, NY. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, 10am, at St. Augustine's Church, New City, followed by interment at Fred Loescher Cemetery, New Hempstead, NY.
