Gisèle Eugénie Gille, née Corbière, who arrived in New York in 1946 after surviving and resisting the Nazi occupation of France, earned a PhD at Columbia (1956) and taught at CCNY retiring as an Associate Professor of French (1989), has died at the age of 90.
She is survived by her children, Philippe, of Yonkers, NY, and Isabelle, of Long Beach, NY, whose father, Gaston Gille, predeceased her in 1987, and by her grandchildren: Maxime, Luc and Delphine.
A Funeral Mass will be offered at St. Peter's Church, 91 Ludlow St., Yonkers, NY, on Sat., June 22nd, at 10 AM. Internment will occur later in 2013 in France.
Memorial donations are requested for the Maison Française Fund at Columbia (https://giving.columbia.edu/giveonline/) or for the relief of the Haitian people.
