Mildred Jean O'Brien Butler a resident of Port Chester died June 19, 2013 at the Greenwich Hospital. She was born in Bristol, CT. on August 2, 1925. She was the daughter of the late Mildred Carlsen and Joseph Butler of Bristol, Ct. She leaves a sister, Ruth Butler Carroll, nephews, Christopher Carroll of Wethersfield, Francis Carroll of Bristol, Robert Carroll of Meriden, Timothy Carroll of Bristol, Nancy Carroll Arnold of Richmond, VA and was predeceased by her niece Deborah Carroll Cawley of West Hartford who passed away on February 9, 2013. Jean was a Lieutenant Commander in the Naval Reserve and graduated from St. Joseph College in West Hartford, she received a master's degree in nursing from Yale University. She was an associate director of nursing at Mount Sinai Hospital in New York City for fifteen years. She was director of the Hospice in Branford, the Kaiser Foundation in California, Ed Rosenthal Associates and Beth Abraham Hospital in New York. She enjoyed traveling to Europe and various aspects of nursing and administration in her retirement. She leaves great nieces and nephews, Sarah Arnold of Charlotte, VA, Marly and Jason Carroll of Wethersfield, Ct, Tyler Cawley of Wethersfield, Ct, and Liam Cawley of Vernon, Ct. and her many friends at the Mews.

Visitation will be 4-8PM today Friday June 21, 2013 at Craft Memorial Home, Inc. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10AM on Saturday June 21, 2013 at Our Lady of Mercy Church 260 Westchester Ave. Port Chester, NY. Interment to follow at Saint Joseph's Cemetery Plainville, Ct. Memorial donations may be made to the North Shore Animal League 25 Davis Ave. Port Washington, NY 11050 or to the Food Center at Don Bosco Center 22 Don Bosco Pl. Port Chester, NY 10572
