George Cheyne of Goshen, NY entered into rest June 11, 2013 at Orange Regional Medical Center; he was 83 years old.
George was born in New York City, NY on August 4, 1929 to Alexander and Isabella Murphy Cheyne.
He was a self-employed salesman.
George was a family man who loved his children and grandchildren. He served in the Navy during the Korean War. A longtime coach with the Pearl River Babe Ruth League, an executive board member with the Rockland County Boy Scouts of America, he was also a member of the Elks club in Pearl River, NY and Toccoa, Georgia. George was a Literacy Volunteer and past treasurer for the Toccoa Presbyterian Church both in Toccoa, Georgia.
He is survived by his sons Alexander G. and wife DeAnn Cheyne of Atlantic Highlands, NJ, Douglas B. and wife Cynthia Cheyne of Washingtonville, NY and Gordon S. and wife Deborah Cheyne of West Nyack, NY; grandchildren Matthew and wife Jennifer Cheyne of Edgewater, Maryland, Colin and wife Helen Cheyne of Beacon, NY, Dale and Lena Cheyne both of Washingtonville, NY; great grandchildren Alexander, Isabel, Mia, Levi and Lily.
George was predeceased by his brother Alexander Cheyne and his sister Isabella Cheyne.
A gathering of family and friends will be on Saturday June 29, 2013 from 11AM - 1PM at the David T. Ferguson Funeral Home 20 North St Washingtonville, NY 10992, 845-496-9106
A service will follow at 1PM in the Funeral Home. Cremation was private.
An Inurnment of George's Ashes will be held on Sunday June 30, 2013, 12PM in the Nauraushaun Presbyterian Church Columbarium 51 Sickletown Rd Pearl River, NY 10965
