Carmody, John F.

John F. Carmody of Pearl River, NY, a former business owner and long time resident of East Durham, NY, died peacefully on March 9, 2014. John was born on March 5, 1920, in Rock Chapel, County Cork, Ireland. He was the son of James and Margaret Carmody (nee Brosnan). John was a 38 year member of TWU Local 100 and served honorably in the U.S. Army during WW II as a military policeman. He is survived by his daughters, Joyce Elbe, of Pearl River and Mary Mulligan of Columbia, MD; his son, James Carmody and his wife Maggie of East Durham, NY and daughter-in-law, Christine Carmody of Pearl River. He is also survived by 10 grandchildren: Colleen and Matthew Elbe, Brian, Siobhan, Kiera and Sean Carmody, Caitlin and Claire Mulligan, and John and Eileen Carmody. He is also survived by 3 great-grandchildren: Sean Wisdom, and John and Grace Elbe. John was predeceased by his loving wife of 50 years, Anne Carmody (nee Joyce), of Galway, Ireland, and his beloved son, Joseph Patrick of Pearl River. Visiting will be on Friday, March 14, 2014, from 3-5 and 7-9 pm at Wyman-Fisher Funeral Home Inc., Pearl River. A Mass of Christian burial will be held at 11:15 am on Saturday, March 15, 2014, at St. Margaret of Antioch Church, Pearl River, NY. Burial to follow at St. Anthony's Cemetery, Nanuet, NY.
