Nicholas Lippolis Obituary

Lippolis, Nicholas M.

Nicholas M. Lippolis, 92, passed away on Wednesday July 23, 2014 at his home in Yonkers, NY. Born on June 1, 1922 to Gennaro and Rosina Lippolis in Hackensack, NJ, he was raised and educated in Yonkers, graduating from Yonkers High School.

He served his country proudly in the U.S. Army during World War II, stationed in the Pacific Theater. Mr. Lippolis was a manager for several men's fine clothing stores throughout the New York Metropolitan area for 63 years until his retirement in 2002. During his working years, he was an active member of the Kiwanis Club. He married his loving wife, Lena D'Alessandro at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church in Yonkers on October 7, 1951.

Mr. Lippolis is survived by his wife, daughter Patty Vano and her husband, Stephen of Yonkers, and two sons, John Lippolis and his wife, Noreen of Somers, NY, and Dr. Nicholas Lippolis and his wife, Loraine of Nashville, TN. He is also survived by his brother-in-law and friend, Dr. Frank D'Alessandro, a sister-in-law, Ida Lippolis, and eight grandchildren, Stephanie, Jennifer, Nicholas, Emily, John, Benjamin, William, and Jonathan. He was predeceased by a son, Gerald Lippolis, and two brothers, Carmine and Ciro Lippolis.

Visiting hours will be at Whalen & Ball Funeral Home on Friday, July 25th at 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Sacred Heart Church in Yonkers on Saturday, July 26th 9:30 a.m. Interment will follow at Mt. Hope Cemetery in Hastings on Hudson.
