Rosaline Schwartz Obituary
AGE: 89 • White Plains
Rosaline B. Schwartz, a longtime resident of White Plains, NY died at age 89 on January 10, 2015. Wife of the late Arnold Schwartz, she was a nurturing, embracing presence beloved by generations. Rosaline was born in New York, NY to Liba and Charles Dukalsky. She is survived by her daughter Michele, son Edward, sister Claire, son-in-law Gerald and daughter-in-law, Karen. She was the devoted grandmother of Rachel, Neal, Mark and Jordan.
Rosaline received a Master's Degree in Linguistics from Columbia University. She was the Director of Public Programs at Yivo Institute for Jewish Research from 1981-1996. With Yiddish as her fist language, she spent a lifetime keeping the Yiddish language and culture alive. She translated two books by Nobel Prize winner Isaac Bashevis Singer and taught Yiddish her entire life. We remember "Roz" most for her joy, love of life, love of music and her desire to help and inspire others. These qualities were evident up through her final days.
A memorial service will be held at a later date to be determined.

My name is Zalmen Mlotek and I am the eldest son of the late Chana Mlotek z'l who worked with your mother at the YIVO i also had opportunities to work together briefly on projects and always had the greatest respect for her knowledge and kindness and genorosity of spirit
