Maurice Terry Obituary

Terry, Maurice P. (Maury)

Maurice P. (Maury) Terry, 69, died on December 10, 2015 following a brief illness. He was born on June 29, 1946 to Maurice and Regina Newbrand Terry. He graduated from Sacred Heart grammar and high schools and attended Iona College. In his younger days he was a skilled and competitive athlete.

Maury was a talented writer, television news producer and award-winning investigative journalist. His best-known work was his book, "The Ultimate Evil." He spent most of his professional life seeking to uncover the truth, and his efforts touched many lives throughout the country. Maury was a font of rock-and-roll knowledge and was as passionate about sports and politics as he was about his work. He was a loyal fan of both the New York and San Francisco Giants, sticking with his teams for decades through good years and bad.

Maury was predeceased by his brothers Robert and Joseph. He is survived by his parents, his sister Kay Amicone, his brother-in-law Phil, his nephews Joseph, Brendan, and Matthew and their families, including six great-nieces and -nephews. He was laid to rest on Dec. 14. He will be missed by his family and his many friends.

I have just found this post and after reading the memories and condolences just want to add my name and a memory or two of Moe. I too remember the basement jams, putting drums and guitars to Moe's songs. Recording a demo record on Good Friday evening into the night that we brought to a music publisher in NYC. Frank Lutz was my best man at my wedding Aug 9,1969. Charlie Ott was my next door neighbor on Woodland Ave. They were some great teenage years and great memories of the man that went on to some very interesting adult years. And Mrs. Terry was working in my dads heart doctors office. He would keep me up on Moes adventures while I was living in Purdys N.Y. and Va. Beach Va. Not sure if this will ever be read by anyone but just felt lead to put down just a few good memories of my old friend Maury. Danny Laino

Go Giants! Thank you for your work. God rest your soul.

Just watched a "Son of Sam" "show" and came to see if Maury had found out anything more. I was pregnant with my second son in 1989 and read "The Ultimate Evil". To this day I believe it to be one of the most interesting and thought provoking book.
I still have a copy and will read it again and compare notes after so many years. Maury if you were any kind of influence as an author as you were a friend and family member, you are sorely missed...May you rest in peace and I pray one day or time to be able to talk with you further. R.I.P.
Sincerely;

Just found out about his transition to nonphysical yesterday, and wanted to extend my sympathies to his family, friends, and collegues. He still has many fans of his investigative writings, and I am definitely one. Hopefully, someone will pick up the mantle of truth and carry on his work.

Kay and family, I was just informed of Maury's passing on this date and was very shocked to hear that news. There are very few of us left who were involved in the Ultimate Evil at one time or another. Please accept my sincere condolences to you and your family.

I could not put U E down as I worked for a photographer who had Michael Carr as his studio manager. I was the stylist. I had hoped to meet Maury and do a film from my perspective. Sorry he is gone.

He came through. I bought his book when it was new and am about to read it for the third time it was indeed an inspired work. And current news from Columbine to today confirms it as it confirms warnings in the Bible about the Tribulation which we are in the eve of.

I read his book Ultimate Evil and I admire him for his dedication to finding truth in the crazy and bizarre world he investigated. The world would benfefit from more journalist like him. He did all of us who also search for truth a great service. RIP

My sincerest condolences. I just learned of his death. I had his phone number next to my desk and was about to call .... He truly was one of the great journalists of our time. A courageous force. I first became aware of Maury and his book "The Ultimate Evil," many years ago through my kid brother, David McGowan. Dave, who passed away 22 November 2015, also after a brief illness, often referenced Maury, in private as well as in the writing in both his, "The Pedophocracy," (files) and "Programmed to Kill," book. David always had high praise of Maury's integrity and journalistic acumen. I could lay no greater laurels at Maury's door. I offer now, in these darkest of times, my heartfelt condolences to Maury's family and to his friends. A Life taken far too soon, but a Legacy left that will endure the Ages

Mr, and Mrs, Terry please accept my sincere condolences. I know it is difficult to lose a son. They are always your babies. I can't imagine losing 3! There is a special place in heaven for you. Maury was a good man and we had a long history of over 60 years. We shared the Giants and politics but could not agree on baseball and my Yankees. Hopefully you're grandchildren help you through Christmas and the New Year.

I am so sad to lose Maury. We have been friends since we met on Think Magazine in the early 1980s and I always enjoyed his warmth, his wit, his intelligence.

We searched Woodlawn Cemetery together for very early clues to the identity of Son of Sam and I took great pride in his groundbreaking work on that case and his subsequent books and TV accomplishments.

We both enjoyed verbally jousting with each other through the years over our totally divergent views on politics. Maury was a truly unique person.

My prayers and condolences to the Terry Family. I will always remember Maury as a unique individual, friendly, easy to talk to, a comedian at times telling Fire Island stories, warm, generous and sensitive. He was constantly reading various newspapers to keep apprised of the current sports and newsworthy events. He definitely had an impact on my life. May God bless him in his new home.

To Mr.and Mrs. T, Kay, and all Of your beautiful family.
Maur loved all of you so very much! Anywhere we traveled Maur would tell me sweet, lovely, funny stories about his family, all of you. Maur was so proud of all of you and the friends he grew up with.
And I also loved him so much because he would never call me a cripple, even though I am, he said I would walk again. I will never forget Him or your wonderful family.
Thank you

I fond memories of :
•Mo using my tape recorder in his basement and pretending he was a disc-jockey - and he was very good.
•Practicing with Mo, Frank Lutz, Danny Laino for Sacred Heart HS auditorium entertainment. Mo sang The Dave Clark Five's song "Do you Love" me on the auditorium stage with us, I sang The Beatles song Boys. One of the nuns closed the curtains on us because she said we were gyrating. We were really surprised - we just were having a good time.
•The emails he would send with pictures from the past, the song of the day, and comments on politics of the present.
The SHHS reunion made me reconnect with Mo and I enjoyed the catching up. We will all miss him. There is only one Mo Terry and I'm glad I knew him. Rest in the Lord Mo.

I am deeply saddened to learn of the passing of a truly noble gentleman, Mr. Maury Terry.

Our world is in dire short supply of principled men such as him. His passion and devotion to seeking truth -- against extraordinary odds -- has left an indelible mark on myself, and on all those who wish to expose evil from its darkest depths.

The loss of his life is immense -- and immediate -- but so too is his body of work. His legacy will undoubtedly outlast us all.

Sincerely expressed are my deepest sympathies on behalf of the Terry family, his many loyal friends, and to all who were impacted by his presence on this earthly plane.

May your grief be brief, and the joyful memories of times shared with Maury last eternal.

With respect and gratitude.
