Curtis Buster Obituary

Curtis Earl (Curt) Buster
1922-2013
Curtis Earl Buster passed away peacefully on January 27, 2013 at the age of 90 in Sonora California. Curt was born in Chicago, Illinois to William Lorin and Etheldel Buster on November 18, 1922. He moved with his parents to South Gate, California when he was about two years old. In the late 1940s Curt built houses for his in-laws with his brother-in-law Stan Busby and his first tract of homes in Moorpark, California and various other projects including markets and commercial buildings. In 1957 Curt began building tract homes in Lompoc, California as Vandenberg AFB was slated to be the heart of the space program. He built hundreds of homes, a restaurant, and the Lompoc Drive-in theater as well as other projects. He continued to develop and build many tracts of homes in Thousand Oaks, Camarillo, Ventura, Santa Barbara, Santa Maria and other locations.
He possessed a rare combination of intellectual ability to solve complex mathematical problems and at the same time have the mechanical ability and skills to build almost anything. He often took on difficult projects and if some one said it couldn't be done, he would definitely take it on and succeed.
Truly one of a kind, his generosity and presence will be greatly missed by his family, many friends and loved ones.
His loving wife Yveline, four children, five grandchildren, and seven great-grandchildren survive him.
