Arlys Wuitschick Obituary

Arlys Jean "Prouse" Wuitschick
Dec. 01, 1934 to Nov. 12, 2010
Arlys was born on December 1, 1934, in Aberdeen South Dakota to John and Cathryn Prouse.
While working for F.W. Woolworth Company in Bremerton Washington, Arlys met her future husband Richard who she married Oct 1, 1955.  The Woolworth company is what brought the newly weds to Southern California.  They moved their home first to Santa Paula, Reseda, Anaheim, Norwalk, Buena Park and finally Lompoc in 1969 (via the old Surf Beach train stop).
For many years Arlys attended Queen of Angels Catholic Church where she and her family worshiped and dedicated their time and talents.  During this time she also continued her education at Allan Hancock Community College and earned a certificate as a Certified Nursing Assistant.  Shortly before the early death of her husband in 1977, Arlys began working for the Lompoc Hospital.  From the mid 1970's to early 1980's she dedicated herself to the care of others in need and worked tirelessly for her coworkers as Chief Union Stewart.
As a widow, Arlys dedicated her life to the care of her children yet still continued the pursuit of her own personal growth.  In the 1980's she, with two partners, opened a business called "A Royal Touch Catering".  She had a wonderful flair for making designer cakes, specialty candies, and delectable foods known throughout the Lompoc area.
In her retirement years Arlys enjoyed spending time with her family and friends.  She was a member of the Half Century Club of Lompoc where she loved (absolutely loved!) to play Bingo.  She also enjoyed trips to Las Vegas and the Chumash Casino.  As she neared the end of her journey, Arlys especially enjoyed spending time with those she loved including her children, grandchildren, and great grand children.
Arlys is survived by her four children Terri (Louis) Rockvam, of Louisiana, Gary (Teresa) Wuitschick of Lompoc, Greg (Dolly) Wuitschick of Lompoc, and Toni Salas of Lompoc.  She is also survived by seven grandchildren and three great grandchildren:  Aimee Rockvam and her sons Chris and Josh, Samantha (Dale) Bloomer and her son Tristen, Megan Salas, Cheyenne and Gregory II Wuitschick, Shelby and Ashley Wuitschick.  She is preceded in death by her late husband Richard Wuitschick in 1977, her parents; brothers William, Leo, Richard, John, Don and her sisters Genevive, Elizabeth, Viola, Irena, and Mary Ann.
While Arlys will be truly missed by her family and friends, all should take solace that she goes with Gods grace as she journeys to a place where she will be reunited with the love of her life, close family, and dear friends who have gone before her.
A celebration of her life will be held on Saturday, November 20th at 10:30 am at Starbuck-Lind Mortuary in Lompoc.  A private interment at the Lompoc Evergreen Cemetery will be held at a later date.

Dear Arlys,
each time someone disappears down the block, the old neighborhood will never be the same and I lose a little bit of that comfort I feel on evening walks... Of course I remember your name. And no! I haven't been in any fights. Silly...

With love,
Gregg
