John Grossman Obituary

John Richard "Rick" Grossman
Rick Grossman of Lompoc died Thursday, September 30, 2010, at the age of 77.
Rick was born March 12, 1933 in White Planes, New York to David and Dorothea Grossman.  Raised and educated in New Jersey, Rick was a pilot for TWA based in Los Angeles.  A resident of Lompoc since 1960 he retired from the United States Bureau of Prisons as an instructor of electronics after 43 years.
Rick married the former Kathleen Johnston on December 20, 1969.  They were members of Queen of Angels Catholic Church.
Rick enjoyed ham radio operation.  He was an avid astronomer, photographer and boater.
In addition to his wife of 40 years, Rick is survived by 52 nieces and nephews and a very special four-legged friend Paddy O'Brien Grossman.  He was preceded in death by his brother James Grossman.
Monsignor John Fitzgerald will celebrate the mass of Christian burial on Tuesday, October 5, 2010, at Queen of Angels Catholic Church at 10 am.  The interment will be in the Lompoc Evergreen Cemetery.  The funeral arrangements are under the direction of Starbuck-Lind Mortuary.
In lieu of flowers Rick's family suggests memorial donations be made to Marian Home Care and Hospice in care of the Marian Medical Foundation, 1400 East Church Street, Santa Maria, CA  93454.
