Leon Briggs Obituary

Leon P. Briggs 
Graveside services for Leon P. Briggs, Jr., 76, of Lompoc, will be 2 p.m. Monday, November 8, 2010 at the Lompoc Evergreen Cemetery with Chaplain Warren Watties officiating.
Leon was born September 1, 1934 in Coventry, Rhode Island to Leon and Dorothy Briggs.  After high school, he enlisted in the U.S. Air Force.  He worked within the missile maintenance career field and retired at Vandenberg with the rank of Senior Master Sergeant after 23 years of service.  He continued to work on base at the tracking station, and over the course of several years, had been employed by several different aerospace contractors until his final retirement.
He loved to travel and had visited many places throughout his military and civilian career.  He also liked woodworking projects and enjoyed reading.
He died Friday, October 29, 2010 at his home.
Survivors include a son, Terry Briggs and his wife Louise of Santa Maria; and sister Doreen Ferrrara of Coventry, R.I.  His wife Grace Briggs preceded him in death in 2005.
 
Arrangements are in the care of Starbuck-Lind Mortuary.
