Marjorie Turner Obituary

Marjorie Jones Turner
1937 - 2010
Marjorie Jones Turner, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt and friend passed away peacefully November 9, 2010 at her home in Magna, UT.
Born January 5, 1937 to Charles Elvin and Helen Clawson Jones in Salt Lake City Utah, and attended Granite High School in Murray, UT. Margie married her High School sweetheart and lifelong partner, Norman Edward Turner on February 11, 1955 in a ceremony at the "Jensen Home" in Salt Lake City. Margie and Norm lived in Jacksonville, FL, Bremerton, WA and San Juan, Puerto Rico during Norm's tour of duty on board the aircraft carrier USS Franklin Roosevelt, then finally settling in Lompoc, CA where they lived for 31 years.
Marjorie had a gentle heart and loved her family. An avid reader, she also enjoyed camping, crocheting, tending to her rosebushes and was always adding to her collection of angel figurines. Movie musicals were one of her favorite forms of entertainment, a passion she shared with her children and their children. A wonderful cook, special occasions always found her preparing one of her signature baked Banana Cream pie, Pineapple Cheesecake or Chocolate Cake with homemade frosting.
A member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, Marjorie taught Primary school, and her loving nature led her to a calling as Compassionate leader in the church Relief Society.
Margie is survived by her husband of 56 years, Norman; their three children Raymond (Karon) Turner of Spring Branch, TX, Ronald (Monika) Turner of Nixa, MO and Trudy (Bradley) Ellis of UT; brother, Steven Jones; and sister, Patrica Bond. She will be missed greatly by her seven grandchildren: Emily and Audrey Turner of San Antonio, TX, Jennifer Hurlich and Nick Turner of Springfield, MO and Trudi Anne, Amanda and Orion Ellis of UT; as well as her five great-grandchildren: Jordan Turner, Jacop and MacKenzie Hurlich, Tylor and Aidan Turner.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her son, Stephen Lynn; brother, Robert Jones; and sisters, Geraldine Bond and Cherylyn Jones.
Funeral services will be held 12 noon Monday, November 15, 2010 at the Magna Stake Center, 3084 S. 8400 W., where friends and family may call Monday 11:00-11:45a.m. Interment: Utah Veterans Memorial Park.

I always loved visiting with Marg. I loved how she wore red lipstick, was always super sassy saying things that would make Trudy blush. She was a great light and a wonderful woman. I send my deepest sympathy and condolences to Trudy, Norm, Brad, Trudi Anne, Miss Amanda and Orion. I miss you all very much. You are all in my thoughts and I send all my love and support in this terribly difficult time. Margie was an amazing woman and she will be greatly missed by all who knew her.

All my love,
Olivia

My Thoughts and Prayers are with all of the family at this time... I grew up across the street from Norm and Marge and thought of them as my adopted grandparents, Marge made my first baby blanket, which I still have today. Trudy babysat me for years and in turn I babysat Trudy-Anne when she was a baby. Marge will truly be missed.
