Siebo Onnen Obituary

Siebo Johann Onnen
March 13, 1921 – September 21, 2010
Siebo was born and raised in Northern Germany. As a young man he learned the fine art of sausage making and started out on his long career as a butcher and sausage maker. He met his wife of 60 years, Lisa, and they had three children while still living in Germany. They decided to leave their homeland and immigrate to America, to make a better life for their family. They immigrated to Iowa in 1955, where Siebo worked hard as an entrepreneur in all things meat, including meat processing and sausage making for the local farmers and running a retail butcher shop. Three more children followed, making for lots of hands to work the meat processing plant.
Siebo ,Lisa and the three younger children moved to Torrance in 1973 where he pursued traditional sausage making at the Alpine Village. Siebo retired from the business in 1985 and moved to Lompoc and then to Goleta where he has resided for the last 18 years. He continued to pursue his love of sausage making during many wonderful family sausage making parties.
He could be seen most days working in his son's garden, a "job" he loved and took very seriously.
Siebo was preceded in death by his loving wife Lisa. He is survived by children Hans Onnen of Omaha, Malene Miller (Denny) of Lompoc, Johann Onnen (Kathy) of Papillion, Eric Onnen (Kelly) of Goleta, Heidi Sarria (Fernando) of Agoura Hills and Tim Onnen (Jennifer) of Buellton; grandchildren Yelena and Stephanie, Aimee and Barry, Emily and Samantha, Melissa, Nichole and Macy and Elijah; and great-grandchildren Alex, Cody, Makenzie, Dylan, Gia, Taiven (Little Siebo) and Finley.
Siebo was a proud Papa and Opa and will be greatly missed by all of his family.
