Doug and I were born a few days apart in Adair county. My grandpa(Estel and his grandpa (Willie) were brothers. I reflect back to the early years as children, Doug, Danny, their Mom and Dad and my family spent "family time" together. Doug was so outgoing and funny.May God be with Doug's family during this time of sorrow. Jim Page, cousin

Marilyn, Rodney & Shawn,

Doug left a huge footprint on our projects for over 35 years. He was a true artist with stone, and his work was always the centerpiece, the focal point, of any thing he touched.

People who crossed Doug's path couldn't help but admire his special skills, but also his outgoing and happy personality. He was not only a heard worker, but a devoted father and grandfather. Doug loved to tell everyone about his family.

We've all lost a wonderful individual and a highly talented artist, way too early.

Our thoughts and prayers are with you all at this most difficult time.

He Is Just Away
I cannot say, and I will not say
That he is dead, he is just away!
With a Cheery Smile and a wave of the hand
He has wandered into an unknown land.
And left us dreaming how very fair
It needs must be since he lingers there,
And you - oh you, who the wildest yearn
For the old-time step and the glad return.

Think of him fairing on, as dear
In the love of there, as the love of here,
Think of him still as the same, I say.
He is not dead - he is just away.

Hey Doug...we are going to miss you. Our love and prayers go out to Marilyn, Sons and their families. When we come to the end of the road, and the sun has set for me.
I want no rites in a gloom-filled room.
Why cry for a soul set free?
Miss me a little, but not too long,
and not with your head bowed low.
Remember the love that was once shared.
Miss me, but let me go.
For this is a journey we all must take,
And each must go alone.
It's all a part of the master's plan,
a step on the road to home.
When you are lonely and sick of heart,
go to the hills we know.
And bury your sorrow among the trees there.
Miss me - but let me go
