CLAYCOMB, GLOVER L., died June 2, 2014.
Glover was born August 4, 1923 in Webster, KY to the late Charles P. Claycomb Sr. and Pauline Frymire Claycomb. Glover graduated from Irvington High School in 1943 and was proud to have served his country during World War II as a pilot in the Army Air Force. He obtained the rank of captain and was discharged from active duty February 8, 1946. Glover attended the University of Kentucky and later graduated form Central Radio and TV School in Kansas City, MO. After working in the radio and television business as a technician, he accepted employment with the Federal Aviation Administration in 1957 as an electronics technician. Glover retired from the FAA in 1983.
He was a Methodist by faith, life member of the Air Force Association, member of the American Legion and a Kentucky Colonel.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his beloved daughter, Karen Elaine Claycomb; brothers, Charles P. Claycomb, Jr. and Lloyd B. Claycomb.
Glover is survived by his wife, Joanna Allen Claycomb; children, Bryan L. Claycomb (Martha), Carole Ann Buskirk, Laura Szafranski (John), Edmund C. Claycomb (Rocio) and Thomas R Claycomb (Edna); granddaughters, Molly Bee Walker and Margarette Claycomb; grandson, Glover Claycomb; sister, Lila Schrenger; brothers, Tom, George, and Danny; three great grandchildren; 11 stepgrandchildren; 23 step great-grandchildren; seven stepgreat-great grandchildren; and nephew Amos Claycomb.
Visitation is 2-8pm Wednesday at Fern Creek Funeral Home, 5406 Bardstown Rd, and 9-11 a.m. Thursday at Alexander Funeral Home in Irvington, KY with burial in St. George Cemetery in Brandenburg, KY In lieu of flowers the family requests donations to the Wounded Warrior Foundation in memory of Glover.

I am sorry to learn of Major Claycomb's passing. A great family man with many years of service to our country as a civilian and as an Army Air Corps pilot in World War II. On behalf of Reserve Officers Association, Chapter 168, I extend our deepest sympathies to Joanna and the entire Claycomb family,
