Karcher, Una Mae  
KARCHER, Una Mae, 102, of Louisville, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, May 24, 2016. She was born July 7, 1914 in Burgin, KY a daughter of the late Joseph L. Worley and Flora E. Wilder Worley and was a member of Melbourne Heights Baptist Church. In addition to her parents, Una Mae is preceded in death by her loving husband, Anthony L. Karcher and her sister, Christine Karcher. She is survived by many loving nieces and nephews and Shirley A. Latimer, a niece who cared for her. The family would like to express their sincere gratitude to the staff at Hosparus and Seneca Place for their loving care. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until time of Funeral Service at 12 p.m. (Noon) Saturday, May 28th at Ratterman Funeral Home, 3711 Lexington Road, "in St. Matthews", with burial to follow in Calvary Cemetery. KAUFMAN, MARY LUCILLE (SWEASY), 91, of Louisville passed away peacefully Sunday, May 22, 2016 surrounded by her family. She was preceded in death by her husband of 65 years, Willie; and brothers, Robert and Buddy. She leaves behind her five sons, Butch (Madelyn), Rich (Karen), Mike (Leeney), Steve (Kristina) and Marty (Kathy); along with 12 grandchildren, Chris, Casey, Cory, Eric, Katie, Matthew, Mitchell, Shelley, Beau, Amy, Olivia and Isaac; 10 great grandchildren; sister, Debbie; and brother, Tom. Mom loved first and foremost to care for her family. Her great example of love, compassion and humility were exhibited every day in how she lived her life. A Catholic in faith, prayer was a big part of her daily life. The family would like to thank Hosparus and Signature Healthcare East for their great care for Mom in her final weeks. Her funeral service will be held at 12:30 p.m. Thursday at Embry-Bosse Funeral Home 2723 Preston Hwy. with burial in Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be from 2-8 p.m. Wednesday. In lieu of flowers a donation may be made to your favorite charity.

Kearns, Phyllis Ann  
KEARNS, Phyllis Ann, 80, of Louisville passed away peacefully on Monday, May 23, 2016 at the Hosparus Inpatient Care Center. She was born April 21, 1936 in Lawrenceburg, KY a daughter of the late Paul York and Edna Hawkins York. She graduated Bardstown High School and lived in Louisville. Phyllis was a loving mother, grandmother and sister. She was quite the artist, loved sketching and oil painting. Phyllis collected antiques, enjoyed history,writing, was an avid reader and loved music. However, her greatest trait was a gentle and kind soul. In addition to her parents, she is also preceded in death by her former husband, Charles D. Kearns, the father of her children and two sisters, Paula Hester and Peggy Sue York. She is survived by her children, Dan Kearns, Michael Kearns, Andrea Clark and Julie McGovern (Keith); five cherished grandchildren, Sarah and Johnny Clark, Nicole, Brett and Sean McGovern and her two sisters, Patsy Hutchins (Joe) and Pamela (Pat) Settles. A Memorial Service will be held at 7:00 p.m. Thursday, May 26, 2016 at Ratterman Funeral Home, 3711 Lexington Road, "in St. Matthews". Visitation will be from 3:00 p.m. until time of service at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to Christian Care Communities, The Cumberland Building, 12710 Townepark Way, Suite 1000, Louisville, KY 40243 or Hosparus, 3532 Ephraim McDowell Drive, Louisville, KY 40205.

Kemple, John Dewey  
New Albany Kemple, John Dewey, passed from this life May 20, 2016 at the VA hospital in Louisville. He was born November 8, 1950 to John and Mary Kemple. He graduated from Floyd Central High School in 1968 where he excelled in track. He joined the Air Force during the Vietnam conflict and was stationed in Alaska. Afterwards he worked for the Army Corps of Engineers. He was a gifted photographer, music lover and classic car enthusiast. He is survived by his father, John Kemple; daughter, Joni Sunshine Phares; son, Adam Kemple; grandson, Peyton Phares; sisters, Twila Henderson and Wini Harrison; brother, Eric Kemple and lifelong friend Kimberly Nevitt. His remains were cremated honoring his request. A private memorial service will be announced at a later date. Our thanks and love to family and friends who have been there with support and love.
