Doughty, Freda T. Neal  
Sellersburg Doughty, Freda T. Neal, 94, passed away Wednesday, August 26, 2015, at Floyd Memorial Hospital. Freda was born on November 10, 1920 in New Albany to Otto and Julia Neal. She worked at Clark Memorial Hospital in the nursery taking care of the babies from 1963 until her retirement in 1983 . She was a member of Speed Memorial Church in Sellersburg, IN. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her step-father, Elijah Boes, her husband, William Elmer Doughty; her granddaughter, Jennifer Brooke Kasse; her sisters, Anna Lee and Rose Marie Smith; and her brothers, Kenneth, Norman and Raymond Neal. Surviving her are son, Michael A. (Linda) Doughty, Georgetown, IN; daughter,Patricia N. (Chuck) Kasse, New Albany, IN; four grandsons, Joseph (Julie) Kasse, Bryan (Janie) Kasse, Christopher (Chrissy) Doughty and Patrick (Chrissy) Doughty; six great-grandchildren, Kyle Doughty, Cooper Doughty, Hunter Kasse, Lucas Kasse, Jacob Kasse and Austin Jamison. A Celebration of Life will be 2 p.m. Saturday, August 29, 2015 at the Garr Funeral Home in Sellersburg with a private burial to follow. Visitation will be Saturday from 10 a.m. until time of service at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to American Heart Association, American Diabeties Association or Speed Memorial Church. She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Johnie w Downey Sr. and is survived by five children and seven grandchildren. Downs, Betty Ann  
Downs, Betty Ann, 80, of Louisville, KY, passed away Saturday, August 29, 2015. Betty was born in Holy cross, KY to her late parents William Ovelee and Mary Pearl Downs. She was retired from General Electric and a member of St. Athanasius Catholic Church. Betty was preceded in death by her brother William Ovelee Downs Jr.; and sister, Mary Pitcock. Left to cherish her memory are her sisters, Anna Clinard, Florence Hagan and Margaret Meredith; brothers, Joseph L. Downs (Bernadine) and Pascal Downs (Rhudell); sister-in-law; Delores Downs; and numerous nieces and nephews. The family would like to offer their deep appreciation to Hosparus CBS group, Dr. Huber, Dr. Masden and Dr. Pendergast for the care they gave Betty. A Funeral Mass will be held Wednesday, September 2, 2015 at 11 a.m. at St. Athanasius Catholic Church, 5915 Outerloop, Louisville, KY, 40219 with burial to follow at Evergreen Cemetery. Downs, Mary Bernadette (Coyle), 81, of Louisville, KY, passed away Saturday, August 29, 2015 with her family by her side. She was retired from G.E., a member of St. Rita Catholic Church, Parents without Partners, The Moose Lodge and the VFW Post in Okolona. Mary was preceded in death by her husband of 30 years, Donald L. Downs. Left to cherish her memory are her children, James Downs (June), Donald J. Downs (Kim), Kenny Downs, Donna M. Casey (Steve), Bobby Downs (Debbie); 15 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and a sister, Theresa L. Coyle. The family would like to offer special thanks to Sissy Lehr and Ann Giles for the care they gave Mary. A funeral Mass will be held Wednesday, September 2, 2015 at 10 a.m. at St. Rita Catholic Church, 8709 Preston Hwy. Louisville, KY, 40219 with burial to follow in Hebron Cemetery. Drexler, Betty (Frances Elizabeth Hoagland)  
Drexler, Betty (Frances Elizabeth Hoagland), passed away unexpectedly on August 29, 2015. Betty was born on August 9, 1938 to Thomas W. and Mary Frances Hoagland. She graduated from Southern High School in 1956 and married Norman E. Drexler on March 16, 1957. Betty and Norman raised four children and ran Treasure Island Coins and Stamps together for 48 years. Betty was a Kentucky Colonel and a proud Republican. She was active in her community, volunteering at her children's schools, participating in fund raisers, and serving on many boards and committees. In 2004 she was a Delegate to the Republican National Convention. She ran for Metro Council in 2006 and until she passed, served on the Executive Committee of the Jefferson County Republican Party. Betty was Christian by faith and an active member of her church, Larchmont Church of God. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and friend. Betty will be remembered as selfless, classy, patriotic, energetic, silly and loving. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends. She is survived by her soulmate of 58 years, Norman E. Drexler; children, Denise Drexler, Thomas E. Drexler (Leisa), Donnett Boes (Carl, Jr.) and Mary Dawn Younger (Patrick); grandchildren, Ben and Tabitha Boes, Katherine and Michael Younger, Emily and Matthew Drexler; siblings, Margie Niles, Bill Hoagland (Claire), Phillip Hoagland (Diane), and Mary Esther Barlow (Marc); and many nieces and nephews. Betty's funeral service will be 1 p.m. on Wednesday, September 2, 2015 at Highlands Funeral Home, 3331 Taylorsville Road, with burial to follow in Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be 1-8 p.m. on Tuesday and on Wednesday from 10 a.m. until time of funeral at Highlands. Expressions of sympathy may be made to Larchmont Church of God.
