Portaro, Virginia "Norma Jean" (Palo)  
Portaro, Virginia "Norma Jean" (Palo), 86, of Louisville, passed away Tuesday, November 18, 2014. She was a native of Republic, PA, and the former owner of Anna Maria's Beauty Salon. Norma Jean was preceded in death three months prior by her beloved husband of 59 years, Mario Portaro; and her infant daughter, Diana Lynn Portaro. She is survived by her children, Charlotte Hawkins (Hawk), Linda Portaro, Joseph Portaro, and Larry Portaro (Lesley); sisters, Mae and Geraldine (James); and grandchildren, Diana (Brian), Katelyn, Michael, Eric, and Allison; and great-grandson, Zachary. Her memorial visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Friday, November 21, 2014 at Highlands Funeral Home, 3331 Taylorsville Rd. Her funeral service will be private.

Price II, David M. "Danny"  
Price, David M. "Danny" II, 37, of Fern Creek, passed away Thursday, November 19, 2014. He was a St. Xavier alumni class of 1995, attended Universities of Louisville and Kentucky. He was formerly employed with Valhalla and currently with the Fern Creek Optimist Club. He was an avid golfer (member at Woodhaven Country Club) as well as a "cradle" Cardinal fan, and loved all outdoor sports and activities. Danny was known for his magnetic personality and infectious smile that touched so many lives. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Leo and Ernestine Price and Janetta and Cletus Dolle; uncles, Maury Dolle and Joseph Price; and aunt, Janie Dolle Thomas. Danny is survived by his loving parents, David and Celeste Dolle Price; sister, Megan Price Willhite (Bryce); niece, Mallory Willhite; nephew, Maxwell Willhite; and a host of relatives and friends. Funeral ceremony will be 6 p.m. Sunday, November 23, 2014 at Newcomer Funeral Home, 235 Juneau Drive with visitation there from noon until time of service. Price, Marjorie Carolyn Doyle  
Shelbyville Price, Marjorie Carolyn Doyle, went to be with her heavenly Father on Monday, the 17th day of November, 2014. She leaves many friends and a loving family who will always remember her warm smile, happy personality, positive outlook, and love for music, good stories and chocolate ice cream. Born in Lexington, she was the daughter of the late Thomas Camillus and Betty Ecila Hammond Doyle, and the widow of the late James Richard Price. A member of the First Baptist Church of Shelbyville, she was a former member of the Christ Church Episcopal Cathedral in Lexington, and later the First Christian Church of Shelbyville. A graduate of Henry Clay High School in Lexington and the University of Kentucky, she received her master's degree in education from the University of Louisville. In 1939, she arrived in Shelby County as the bride of her college sweetheart, James R. Price, who was a teacher and principal of the Cropper High School, a farmer, and later, manager of the Federal Land Bank. Marjorie was a public school music teacher at Cropper and also gave private piano lessons prior to beginning her full-time career in elementary education teaching second, third and fourth grades at Cropper, Gleneyrie and Simpsonville schools. Her career included 19 years as a full-time teacher in the Shelby County Public Schools and eight years as a substitute teacher. Her civic leadership, community service, and memberships include serving as president of Shelby County Homemakers Club; a board member of the Shelby County Farm Bureau, the Southern States Cooperative, the Shelby County Community Theatre, and the Shelby County Fair Board; a member of Chautauqua Club, Shelby County and Kentucky Retired Teachers Associations, a deaconess of the First Christian Church of Shelbyville, and a longtime volunteer at Jewish Hospital Shelbyville. Her survivors include her son, James Richard Price Jr and his wife, Lynn Murta Price of Shelbyville; her daughter, Judith Carolyn Price Stout and her husband, Charles H. Stout, of Shelbyville; her five grandchildren, James Robert Price, Richard Brian Price, William Ryan Price, Richard David Stout, and Allyson Elizabeth Carolyn Stout; and her seven great-grandchildren, Brady, David, Julia, Victoria, Jade, Paige and Kingston Price. Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday, the 22nd day of November, 2014 at the First Baptist Church of Shelbyville, with James R. Price, Jr., officiating. Interment will be in the Grove Hill Cemetery in Shelbyville. Visitation will be from 3-8 p.m. Friday at the Hall-Taylor Funeral Home of Shelbyville. Expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to the National Multiple Sclerosis Society, P.O. Box 4527, New York, NY 10163; Gideons International; or First Baptist Church Shelbyville Building Fund.
