Buskey, Ellen Joan (Lacey)
Buskey, Ellen Joan (Lacey), passed away May 18, 2016 in Louisville, Kentucky. Ellen was born July 9, 1940 in Ft. Wayne, Indiana to Irish parents, Mary Katherine Lacey (Leonard) and James Lewis Lacey. She was one of three children, including brother, James Lewis ( Linda) Lacey and sister, Kathleen Mary Merritt, both of Wolcottville, IN. Ellen spent her childhood in Ft. Wayne and Adams Lake near Wolcottville, IN. She was raised Catholic and attended Catholic schools in Ft. Wayne. After childhood, Ellen attended business college in Florida, where she worked in the accounting field for several years. In 1966, Ellen returned to Ft. Wayne and became accounting manager at Bonsib Advertising. In 1968, Ellen met and married Jack D. Buskey, her husband of 47 years. They continued to live in Ft. Wayne and Bluffton, IN, where they were blessed with a son, Bradley D. Buskey and daughter, Elizabeth R. (Gary) Passmore. In 1981, the family moved to Louisville, KY where they continue to reside today. As a wife, mother, and grandmother, Ellen always had an unwavering commitment to family. Ellen was focused and devoted to her children's education, including their assured attendance at catholic high schools, St. X and Sacred Heart Academy. Ellen's more recent commitment to education and core values for granddaughters Jessica Elizabeth, 12, and Julia Romaine, 9, has established a strong bond between grandparent and grandchildren. Ellen's childhood love for Adams Lake continued as an adult and expanded to annual family "on the beach" vacations in Florida and the Caribbean. Ellen and her family have been fortunate to share extensive travel to numerous locations throughout the world. A great and satisfying accomplishment for Ellen has been the 25 year close, continuing friendship with an exchange student from Santiago Chile. Ellen's entire family has visited Javier Quemada and his family in Chile; and Javier and his family have visited Louisville on numerous occasions. Ellen's commitment has provided a truly life changing experience for both families. Ellen is survived by her husband, son, daughter, two granddaughters, brother, sister, and several nieces and nephews. The private, family service was arranged by Pearson Funeral Home. Gifts and donations may be directed to Hosparus.
