Albert Eugene "Butsy" Higgins

HIGGINS, ALBERT EUGENE, "BUTSY," 84, of Louisville, passed away Friday, December 27, 2013, from complications following a fall on Christmas Day. He was born August 1, 1929, to George Bernard and Mary Frances Higgins.

A retired Chief Master Sergeant of the Kentucky Air National Guard, Al also served in the Air Force and as a reservist.

Al and Marie wintered at Reflections in Avon Park, Florida, for many years. Friend to many, Al served as an Arm Chair Computer Tech. Summers were spent tending his tomato garden. Al served as escort to "Al's Gals" on Friday nights to concerts in the park followed by ice-cream at McDonalds! He was preceded in death by his son, Michael Eugene Higgins.

Albert is survived by his beloved wife of 62 years, Anna Marie Osborne Higgins; his children, Mary Anne Kekich (Nick), Alice Bymaster, Patrick Higgins (Annette), and Jean Strohbeck (Hank); his grandchildren Becky Bymaster Young (Chuck), Amanda Kekich Missildine (Marc), Hank Strohbeck, Robert and Edgar Higgins; his great-grandchildren Blake, Anna, Ryan and Lucas Young.

His funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Tuesday, December 31, 2013 at St. Rita Catholic Church, 8709 Preston Highway with inurnment to follow at a later date. A memorial visitation will be held from 2-8 p.m. Monday at Ratterman & Sons Funeral Home, 10600 Taylorsville Road.
