FLAHERTY, ANTHONY XAVIER, 19, of Louisville, KY, passed away Wednesday, September 12, 2012 at his home.
He was a graduate of St. Xavier High School and a Governor Scholar at the University of Louisville, where he studied Biology and was a Pre-Med student. He was a member of St. Barnabas Catholic Church, the Knights of Columbus, and a member of VFW
Post 1170. Anthony was also the Senate Clerk in the Student Government Association at U of L.
Preceding him in death were his grandparents, Donald C. Kohler, William and Virginia Flaherty; aunt, Donna M. Chesser; great-uncles, Thomas Kohler and Thomas Flaherty.
Survivors include his parents, Mary L. and Douglas L. Flaherty; grandmother, Alma M. Kohler; cousins, Dana M. Chesser, Mary Rolanda Chesser, Abby Evans and Bradley Schmitt; aunt, Ann B. Schmitt; uncles, Steven Schmitt and Artis Chesser; as well as his great-aunt, Francis Flaherty; his best friend and other-half, Catherine Palmer-Ball; as well as many other friends.
Funeral Mass will be celebrated 11 a.m. Monday, September 17, 2012 at St. Barnabas Catholic Church, 3042 Hikes Lane, with burial to follow in St. Michael Cemetery. Visitation will be both Saturday and Sunday from 2 - 8 p.m. at Ratterman & Sons, 3800 Bardstown Road, where a prayer vigil will be held at 4 p.m. on Sunday.
