RAMSEY, DENZIL "D." JAMES SR., 87, of Louisville, died peacefully at Baptist Hospital East on September 21, 2013, with family in close attendance.
Born in Manchester, KY, he was a World War II U.S. Navy
Veteran, earned his BS in Education from U of K, and later Masters Degree from EKU. He was a retired teacher, coach, and principal having worked throughout his career in the Kentucky Counties of Mercer, Lincoln, Bullitt and lastly, Jefferson.
Among those that preceded him in death include his parents, James and Maud Ramsey; wife, Betty Lou Ramsey; sister, Mildred Bull; infant granddaughter, Robyn; and infant great-grandson, Justin.
He leaves to cherish his memory his sons, Denzil James "Jim" Ramsey Jr., (Dawn) and Robert Allen "Bob" Ramsey (Debra); daughter, Carolyn Wilkins (DuWayne); grandchildren, Jennifer, Chris, Julie, Denzil III, Ruth, David and Stephen; nine great-grandchildren; brother, Charles "Chuck" Ramsey (Joan); and sister, Joyce Witt.
A memorial reunion for family and friends will be held Saturday, October 5, 2013, to share in a celebration of the life and times of Denzil J. Ramsey Sr. The memorial reunion will be in the Hebron Presbyterian Church Activity Building, 4765 North Preston Hwy., Shepherdsville KY 40165, following a service in the Sanctuary beginning at 1 p.m.
