COX, DONALD J., 74, of Louisville, died May 14, 2013 at Hosparus of Louisville.
Don will be remembered as a man of honor and integrity, a business man at heart whose word was his bond. His demeanor was marked by a generosity and respect for his fellow man that challenged those around him to do the same.
Don was a sergeant in the US Marine Corps
, where he served six years. He was the former owner of several convenient stores, and was the CEO of CFM Distributors. Don was a longtime member of Hurstbourne Country Club, a KY Colonel, a member of the Lions Club and a lifetime supporter of University of Louisville Athletics.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Frank D. Cox and Margaret Bowers Cox.
Don is survived by his "Gal Pal" of 23 years, Joyce Morgan, along with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He leaves behind his children, Rebecca Cox Deatherage (Bruce) of Stanford, KY and J. Bryan Cox (Tricia) of Valdese, NC; grandchildren, Braxton, Landon, Audrey, Jared, and Riley. Don is also survived by his siblings, Robert (Judy), Maurice (Bettye), Frank (Vicki), and Lynn Williams (Richard), along with numerous nephews and nieces.
A graveside service is scheduled for Friday, May 17, 2013 at 11a.m. at Cave Hill Cemetery (Broadway Entrance) followed by a celebration of Don's life at the Hurstbourne Country Club at 1:30 p.m.
