Edwina McClure

McCLURE, EDWINA, of Louisville, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on September 28, 2013.

She was an exceptional woman who never missed an opportunity to share a smile, a hug, and a story. She was part of a generation of strong-willed individuals who carved out amazing lives from the humblest of beginnings.

Edwina was a corporate secretary for many years with the L&N railroad. She was an active member in the ministries of Victory Memorial Baptist Church, where she served with close friends. With a fearless and determined spirit, Wina traveled the world at a time when a young single woman was expected to be quiet and reserved. She married her high school sweetheart after reuniting at her 50th high school reunion, entering into a 25-year love story. Her example in life, love, and faith touched every soul she encountered and lives on as an enduring legacy in her family who loved her so dearly.

Edwina is preceded in death by her beloved husband Lee McClure.

Edwina is survived by her daughter, Rose Hamblen (Gary Hamblen) of Louisville. She is also survived by her grandchildren Perry Kirk (Shelley) and Kim Stephens (Mike), and her great-grandchildren Caroline, Gabrielle, Rachel, Isabel and Mason.

Visitation will be held at Highlands Funeral Home, 3331 Taylorsville Road, on Monday, between 4 and 8 p.m. Funeral service will be held at Highlands Funeral Home on Tuesday at noon. Burial will follow at Evergreen Cemetery.

Memorial donations may be made to Oneida Baptist Institute, P.O. Box 67 Oneida, KY 40972-0067.

Condolences may be left in Edwina's online guestbook at edwinamcclure.wordpress.com.
