TAYLORSVILLE - Yount, Elizabeth Day, born Elizabeth Lee Bright on August 31, 1921 in Louisville, met our Lord whom she served with all her heart on May 29, 2014 at the Hosparus In-Patient Unit in Louisville.
As a daughter, sister, mother, wife, grandmother and great-grandmother, Elizabeth was an avid collector of antiques and owner of Greene Countrie Antiques in Taylorsville. She was a devout Christian, a longtime member of Plum Creek Baptist Church and member of Southeast Christian Church in Louisville.
She reverently served her Lord and Savior, and through her immense musical talent, played piano and organ for many churches, including Plum Creek Baptist Church, for decades. She also ministered through her music to various nursing homes and senior living centers over the years.
Elizabeth was preceded in death by her father, Slaughter Lee Bright Sr. and her mother, Paralee Beck; her siblings, James O. Bright, Slaughter Lee Bright Jr., Billie Rose Bright Mineer and Charles E. Beck Jr.; She was also preceded in death by her husbands, Norman Montfort, George Cook, who died in 1948, William Marvin Day, who died in 1964 and Austin T. Yount, to whom she was married for more than 40 years, who passed away on January 4, 2014.
Elizabeth is reunited in Heaven with her son, Bobby Montfort and her grandson, Chad, who died in 1989.
Elizabeth deeply cherished her family and provided love, care and support throughout her life. She is survived by her daughter, Sunny Day Coots (Bob), Taylorsville; and her sons, Donald C. Cook (Nancy), Louisville, David J. Cook (Pam), Trinity, FL and Mark L. Day (Lori), Brentwood, TN. She is also survived by her beloved children by marriage, Thomas R. Yount, Lexington, KY, Deborah Yount Hinchman, North Bend, WA and Sandy Yount, Taylorsville; daughter-in-law, Mary B. "Tee" Montfort Fonseca (Henry), Tarpon Springs, FL, who is and will always be a loved family member; and one sibling, Bonnie Jean Beck Kiper, Mt. Washington, KY.
Her grandchildren include Karen Hays Cook, Jennifer Cook Wilson, David Matthew Cook, Farrah Suzanne Cook Ginter, David Joseph Montfort, Brandon Alexander Tsueda, David Austin Hinchman and her namesake, Elizabeth Karen Day. She is also survived by seven precious and loved great-grandchildren.
Funeral: 11 a.m. Monday at Plum Creek Baptist Church, Waterford, KY. Visitation: 2-8 p.m. Sunday, June 1, 2014 at Greenwell-Houghlin Funeral Home, Taylorsville.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Hosparus of Louisville (In-Patient Unit), Louisville, KY or to either of Elizabeth's church homes, Southeast Christian Church, Louisville and Plum Creek Baptist Church, Waterford.
