Francis G. "Blackie" Filburn

FILBURN, FRANCIS "BLACKIE" G., 88, passed away peacefully April 26, 2014.

He was a devoted Catholic, proudly he served his country during World War II in the U. S. Navy and retired from South Central Bell after a 41 year career.

He is survived by his loving spouse of 60 years, Elizabeth Jean Hardy Filburn; five children who loved him dearly, Diane (Marvin), Denise (Chuck), Jean (Mehrdad), Mark (Linda) and Greg (Chris). In addition, his legacy includes 10 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren who loved their grandpa. Also surviving is his sister, Jane Roth and brother Richard (Dick) Filburn There will be a funeral Mass in celebration of his life at 10 a.m. at St. Martha Catholic Church, 2825 Klondike Lane, Wednesday, April 30, 2014. Family visitation and lunch will be served afterwards in Bethany Hall, parish grounds.
