George Calvin Coomer

COOMER, GEORGE CALVIN, 88, of South Louisville, was born December 24, 1923 to the late Muncy and Bertha Lloyd Coomer in Breeding, KY, and returned to his Heavenly Father December 10, 2012.

Mr. Coomer was a proud United States Marine veteran serving in World War II, a truck driver, a residential builder, a member of Local Teamsters 89 and a Christian.

Among those who preceded him in death include his parents; daughter, Myra Georgette Coomer; son, Gerald Coomer; and father-in-law, Donald Russell.

He leaves to cherish his memory his beloved wife of 25 years, Marsha Russell Coomer; son, Jerry B. Coomer (Ann); mother- in- law, Florence "Mama" Russell; six grandchildren, six great grandchildren, one great-great grandchild, a host of nieces, nephews, other family and friends.

Funeral service will be held 10 a.m. Thursday at Schoppenhorst, Underwood and Brooks (Preston Highway at Brooks Road) with interment in Louisville Memorial Gardens West. Friends may pay their respects from 3-8 p.m. Wednesday at Schoppenhorst.

Expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to WHAS Crusade for Children.
