Jacqueline Miller Cushing "Jackie" Sweet

SWEET, JACQUELINE MILLER CUSHING "JACKIE," 88, passed away March 18, 2013, at Westminster Village Health Center in Clarksville, IN.

Jackie was the daughter of Charles and Alma Miller. She was a lifelong resident of Louisville, graduated from Shawnee High School and attended the University of Louisville.

Music was her passion and Jackie began singing in church while in high school and performed throughout her life. Jackie also sang in USO shows during World War II and many Iroquois Amphitheater productions. In later years, she was a member of the Young Hearts Theatre and continued to sing and entertain throughout the remainder of her life. Jackie also won the Talent portion of Ms. Senior Louisville.

Known for her zest for life, Jackie loved people and never knew a stranger. She loved to entertain her friends and family on Christmas Eve, other holidays, and special occasions.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Norman Sweet; daughter, Linda Gower; and granddaughter, Elizabeth Gower.

She is survived by her sister, Mary Lee Bach of Jackson, KY; two daughters, Carol Eckler of Louisville and Robin Cushing of Prospect, KY; stepdaughter, Merrill Lee Toole, of Los Angeles, CA; grandchildren, Jamie Frey (Paul), Todd Eckler (Kristen), Adriana McCubbin (Jason), Rebecca Huff (Theo), Christa Guajardo(Michael), Aaron Darr, Anne Toole and eight great-grandchildren.

A memorial service is scheduled for 11 a.m. Saturday, March 23, 2013 at St. Francis in the Fields Episcopal Church, 6710 Wolf Pen Branch Road.
