James J. Huber Jr.

HUBER, JAMES J. JR., passed away peacefully at home on January 9 2014 at age 85.

He was extremely devoted to his country serving in the Air Force during the Korean War. He was a Past Commander of American Legion Iroquois Post 229 and Kentucky Department Chaplain for 11 years. As a recipient of the American Legion's Distinguished Service Award, he remained involved until just recently when his health would no longer allow.

Jim was the former co-owner of Huber's Carpet and Lincoleum where he worked from a teenager until his retirement at age 72. He also served as president of the Downtown Kiwanis Club.

He was preceded in death by two sons, Jamie and infant John; grandson, Matthew; and brothers, Tom and Bill.

Jim leaves to cherish his memory, his loving wife of 63 years, Peggy Bard; son, Larry (Connie) of Pocatello, ID; daughters, Elaine Pursell and Jennie Stokes (Jim); Jamie's wife, Theresa; 11 grandchildren and 20 great grandchildren. He is also survived by brothers Al (Jan) and Harry; sisters Mary Watts (Al), Rosie Mangino (John), and Martha Bertrand (Mel) and brother-in-law Bob Bard (Captola).

His celebration of life Mass will be held 10 a.m. Monday at Most Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church, 3509 Taylor Blvd. with burial in Calvary Cemetery. Visitation: 1-7 p.m. Sunday at Joseph E. Ratterman & Son, 7336 Southside Dr. An American Legion service will take place at 4 p.m. Sunday.
