Jerome A. "Jerry" Thornberry Sr.

THORNBERRY, JEROME "JERRY" A. SR., 92, of Louisville, passed away March 27, 2014 at Seneca Place Nursing Home.

He was born on January 19, 1922 in Hardin County, KY to the late James and Clara Thornberry. He was a 1941 graduate of St. Xavier High School and attended the University of Louisville for two years.

He saw action during World War II as an infantryman in Europe and was promoted to First Sergeant. The Alemite Company was his employer for 38 years and he retired from there as the Warehouse Manager. He was a past president of the Glendale Optimist Club and a member of St. Raphael Parish.

He was married for 34 years to his beloved wife, Imelda, who preceded him in death in 1980.

He is survived by his sons, Jerome, Jr., John, and James (Lorie); daughter, Jean Brown (David); grandson, Michael L. Schweitzer; granddaughters, Tanya Morris (Scott), Alicia Thornberry and Emily Thornberry; great-granddaughter, Kaylah Morris; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral service will be at 11 a.m. on Monday, March 31, 2014 at Highlands Funeral Home, 3331 Taylorsville Rd., with burial in Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be from 2 - 8 p.m. on Sunday at the funeral home.
