John Thoni Friedli

FRIEDLI, JOHN THONI, 98, died Saturday, September 7, 2013.

He was a purchasing director for the old Oertel's Brewing Co. and the Commonwealth of Kentucky, an Army veteran of World War II, former first baseman for the Baltimore Orioles and a member of American Legion Highland Post #201.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Helen Anderson Friedli; son-in-law, Hershel Witten: and sisters, Marie Friedli Lee, Louise Friedli Lane and Lillian Friedli Friedl.

He is survived by his daughters, Marita Friedli Witten of New Albany, IN and Betty Friedli Graven (Michael) of St. Louis, MO; grandchildren, John Witten of New Albany, Gina Witten Fultz (Jeff) of Richmond, KY, and Jane Witten Shine (John) and Joe Witten (Carmen), all of New Albany, Holly Graven Flora of Englewood, CO and Marit Graven Ayers of Scottsdale, AZ; great-grandchildren, Natalie, Lindsey and Emily Fultz, Jack and Jenna Shine, Brady and Briar Witten, Sam, Ryan and Ethan Flora and Natalia and Tatiana Ayers; and special friends, Sandy and Frank Wethington and Sarita Coleman.

His funeral is 10 a.m. Wednesday at Fern Creek Funeral Home, 5406 Bardstown Road with burial in Evergreen Cemetery. Visitation is noon-8 p.m. Tuesday.
