Joseph A. Brandi

BRANDI, JOSEPH A., 96, of La Grange, KY, formerly of Salisbury, NC, passed away in La Grange, on Tuesday, November 20, 2012.

He was a Catholic, a decorated Army World War II Veteran, who was awarded a purple heart and a retired rubber and plastics industry technical advisor and plant manager.

Mr. Brandi was an accomplished and avid award-winning athlete who excelled at all sports and especially enjoyed basketball, golf, bowling and a good game of bocce with friends. He never had a bad word for anyone and was a devoted husband and father whose life was centered on his wife, Lillian, whom he loved with all his heart.

Survivors include his wife, Lillian Ruth Docherty Brandi; children, Jay Brandi (Mary Ellen), Terrence Brandi (Terry) and Kathleen Francis (William); brothers, Daniel Brandi and Anthony Brandi; 14 grandchildren; and many great-grandchildren.

A funeral Mass will be conducted at 9:30 a.m. on Monday, November 26, 2012 at St. Louis Bertrand Catholic Church, 1104 South 6th Street, Louisville, KY, 40203, with burial to follow in KY Veteran Cemetery. Visitation from 3-6 p.m. Sunday at Heady-Radcliffe Funeral Home.
