Leo A. Metten

METTEN, LEO A., 83, passed away Wednesday, February 13, 2013 at the Franciscan Healthcare Center.

He was a retired employee of GE where he worked for 37 years. Leo was a founding member of Guardian Angels Catholic Church and served as a machine gunner in the Army during the Korean War.

Preceding him in death were his wife of 53 years, Dorothy; and siblings, Anna "Sis" Hughes, Paul and Charles Metten.

Survivors include his children, Greg Metten (Tammie) and Sandra M. Hess, DMD, (Bruce); siblings, Leona Gossett, Clifford Metten, Carolyn Gardner, Martha Jean Hunter and Raymond Metten; five grandchildren, Bruce Hess, Jr., Tyler J. Hess, Jordon R. Hess, Amanda McKune and Candice McKune; three great-grandchildren, Breanna and Brayden Hess and Hunter Reynolds; and loving friend, Mary Thomas.

Leo was a lover of the outdoors, nature and animals, especially his beloved dog, Smokey Joe.

The family would like to express their thanks to the nurses and staff at Franciscan Healthcare for the love and concern shown to Leo during his stay.

Funeral Mass will be held at 11:30 a.m. Monday at Guardian Angels Church, 6000 Preston Highway, with burial in Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be from 1-8 p.m. Sunday at Ratterman and Sons, 3800 Bardstown Road. Expressions of sympathy may be made to the .
