Margaret Robb Dukes

CORYDON - Dukes, Margaret Robb, 83, passed away Wednesday, January 2, 2013 at Autumn Woods Health Campus in New Albany, IN.

She was born in Louisville, KY, on April 6, 1929 the daughter of Roy Thomas and Mary Margaret Miller Jones and was a lifelong resident of Corydon, IN. After graduating from Indiana University in 1951 she became an executive secretary at General Electric in Louisville. She was a homemaker, a member of Kappa Kappa Kappa and Chi Omega sororities, Daughters of the American Revolution and Indiana University Alumni Association. She served as a board member for two terms on the South Harrison Community School Corporation and was a member of the Corydon Presbyterian Church.

She enjoyed her hobbies of needlepoint and knitting.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and her husband, Dr. David J. Dukes Sr.

She is survived by two sons, David J. Dukes Jr. (Tracy) of Floyds Knobs, IN, and Dr. William H. Dukes (Marie) of Spring Lake, MI; one daughter, Elizabeth R. "Betsy" Dukes of Indianapolis, IN; and seven grandchildren, Travis Stevens, Sara Stevens, Madeline Dukes, William D. Dukes, Jordan Stevens, Judson Dukes and Rebekah Dukes.

Funeral services will be held at Gehlbach & Royse Funeral Home in Corydon on Saturday at 10 a.m. Rev. Scott Hill will officiate. Burial will be in Cedar Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be held at the funeral home in Corydon on Friday from 4-7 p.m.

The family suggests memorial gifts be made in lieu of flowers to the Harrison County Hospital Foundation.
