Maynard Arend

AREND, MAYNARD, 86, born on January 22, 1926 and passed away on January 1, 2013.

He retired from LG&E in 1988 after 35 years of service. He was a Marine Corp veteran of World War II. Maynard was known for his love of trains and instilled that love in many others.

Survivors include his wife of 62 years, Virginia Bartels Arend; children, Daryl (Helen), Keith (Lana), Allison Broome (David) and Christine Steineck (Arthur); grandchildren, Amber Arend (Cami Williams), Joshua Arend (Jenna), Kyle and Ryan Arend; a great-granddaughter, Ava Ranae; and sisters, Ruth Young and Edna Arend.

The family will host a celebration of Maynard's life on Saturday, January 5, 2013 from 2-5 p.m. at the Clifton Center, 2117 Payne St., Louisville, KY, 40206. He chose to donate his body to the U of L Medical School.
