Morris Vernon Baxter Jr.

BAXTER, MORRIS VERNON JR., 91, passed away in Germany last week.

He leaves behind to celebrate his memory three daughters, Laura Louise Baxter, Anslie Jean Baxter and Helen Adele Baxter- Southworth. Along with them are his three grandchildren, Heath Langley Alexander, Jesse Baxter Southworth and Emily Elizabeth Southworth and two great grandchildren. Morris was the eldest child. His siblings, Jean Ricketts (Roy) and Robert Baxter (Dorothy) both of Louisville, and Evelyn Davis (Al Cleve) of Mt. Washington, KY, remain to honor their brother's passing.

Morris was born and raised in Henry County. He was a decorated World War II veteran having served as a first lieutenant in the Army Air Corps (later to be called the USAF). He flew 29 bombing missions into Germany. He remained in the USAF reserve as a lieutenant colonel. Following the war he received his master's degree in foreign service and worked for both the CIA and NSA until his retirement. He traveled the world and he loved his country.

Visitation will be on Tuesday, from 6-8 p.m. at Prewitt Funeral Home in New Castle, KY. The funeral service will be at 11:30 a.m. April 2, 2014 at Prewitt Funeral Home in New Castle, with interment to follow at Sulphur Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, Morris requested that donations be given to Mother's Against Drunk Driving (MADD).
