Nicholas "Nick" Naiser

NAISER, NICHOLAS "NICK," 87, passed away Sunday at his home, surrounded by his family.

Born in Louisville, he was a son of the late Dave and Elizabeth George Naiser. Nick was the co-owner of Dave's Café on Market Street and Naiser's Liquors. He also served as a Deputy Sheriff for Jefferson County.

Upon graduating from DuPont Manual High School, Nick joined the Navy, serving as a signal man on the LSM(R) 523 during World War II. He was a member of St. Michael Orthodox Church, founding member of the Lebanese-American Country Club, Masonic Lodge #191 and Fraternal Order of Police #25.

Two sisters, Josephine Muffet and Corinne Hill also preceded him in death.

The family wishes to say a special thank you to the staff at Hosparus, Caring Excellence, and Parkway Medical Center and Rehab for the excellent care shown to Nick during his illness.

Survivors include his wife, the former Georgina George; four children, Brad (Linda), Craig and Jeff Naiser and Jennifer Asbury (Eddie); five sisters, Edna George, Alice Coury (Adam), Betty Metry (Knobby), Shirley Metry (Ed) and Margaret Metry; two brothers, Leo Naiser (Delores) and James Naiser (Bernie); seven grandchildren, Kristen and Steven, Nicholas (Erin), Nikki and Jackie, David and Anthony; and three great-grandchildren, Eric, Johnathan and Sterling.

Visitation will be 2-8 p.m. Wednesday at St. Michael Orthodox Church, at the corner of Hikes Lane and Furman Blvd., where Trisagion prayers will be offered at 7 p.m. Wednesday. The funeral service will be 10 a.m. Thursday at the church, followed by burial in Cave Hill Cemetery.
