THOMAS, RICKY DALE, 51, of Okolona, was born July 9, 1961 and returned to his Heavenly Father May 6, 2013.
Mr. Thomas was a member of Valley View Church, regional chaplaincy coordinator for Ford Motor Company, previous owner of Thomas Shell Service Station located at Old Shepherdsville Road and Outer Loop and previous worked at PNL Railroads. He was with the Jefferson County Sheriff reserves since 2007, girls softball coach for the Bandits boys baseball coach for Evangel and a referee for youth football. A graduate with bachelor of business administration with Magna Cum Laude Honors from Northwood University, a karate instructor to many students and was 4th degree black belt in Tae Kwon Do and 3rd degree Black belt in Hapakido and was inducted into the Worlds Martial Arts Hall of Fame after receiving the title Master Thomas.
Among those who preceded him in death include his father, Ray Thomas; and grandparents, Selma and Hugh Pardue, Tessie and Basil Thomas.
He leaves to cherish his memory his beloved wife, Janae Witt Thomas; son, Blake Allen Thomas; mother, Pearl Martin; sisters, Karen Thomas and Pamela Bowling; stepfather, Gene Martin; stepbrother, Gary Martin; mother-in-law, Kim McKinley and her husband, Donald; father-in-law, Ricky Witt and his wife, Willene; sister-in-law, Misty Davis; nieces, Rachael and Alivia; nephews, Matthew, Zachery, Joey and Chase; and a host of other family and friends.
Funeral service will be held at noon on Friday at Schoppenhorst, Underwood and Brooks (Preston Highway at Brooks Road) with interment in Evergreen Cemetery. Friends may pay their respects from 2 p.m. until 8 p.m. Thursday at Schoppenhorst.
Expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to his son, Blake Thomas for his college fund.
