Verlie Mae Walker

WALKER, VERLIE MAE, 84, passed away Wednesday, April 9, 2014.

She was born on July 7, 1929 in Big Clifty, Kentucky to the late Lawrence and Hettie Nichols Pence. She stayed in Big Clifty until she married Russell Glenn Walker on August 17, 1946 at which time they moved to Louisville. Verlie was known for her sense of humor and devoted love for her family. She was a member of Douglass Hills Church of Christ.

She is survived by her two daughters, Joetta Usher (Bill) and Glenda Babcock (Tim); four grandchildren, Adrienne Ray (Scott), Craig Usher (Emily), Whitney King (Preston) and Shelby Babcock; and one brother, Farley T. Pence.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, Russell Glenn Walker.

A Celebration of Verlie's Life will be conducted Monday, April 14, 2014 at 10 a.m. at Arch L. Heady at Resthaven Chapel, 4400 Bardstown Road, with burial in Resthaven Memorial Park. Visitation will be from 2-8 p.m. on Sunday, April 13, 2014 at the funeral home.
