Walter Fuelling

FUELLING, WALTER, 89, passed into God's Kingdom February 3, 2013. His battles in strife now have been won! Born in Louisville, KY, and graduated from Dupont Manual High School Class of 1941. Attended University of Louisville. Lifelong Lutheran; baptized and attended grade school, member of Redeemer Lutheran Church where he held many offices. Member of Faith Lutheran Church, Parrish, FL. Member of United States Navy in World War II with subsequent service in Korea. Retired from Bell South (now AT&T) in 1981 as District Manager, responsible for State of Kentucky Electronic Switching Offices. His early work experiences with Western Electric prior to Bell South provided him with great experience to move through various jobs and positions prior to retiring.

During his career he participated in American Legion Dixie Post 220, Kirby Post 24 Bradenton, FL, Past President of Telephone Pioneers of America Chapter 32 and Louisville Council, and Served as State Representative on the Governor's Commission on Aging, as well as 16 years as a Shively City Councilman and ABC agent for the City of Shively.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Frieda and father, Walter; as well as son, James.

He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Annabelle McKinney Fuelling; children, Leslie Becker (Perry) Merritt Island, FL, Jerry Fuelling (Betty Jo) Louisville, KY, Janice Fowler Odessa, FL and Loretta (Lori) Bishop Louisville, KY, (stepdaughter); grandchildren Stephanie Holsonback, Vanessa Cox, Tracy Sipes, Chris Fuelling and Deidre Fuelling; four great-grandchildren; as well as nieces and nephews.

A celebration of Walter's life will be held Friday, February 8, 2013 at the O. D. White & Sons Funeral Home, 2727 South Third Street, Louisville, KY, at 1 p.m. with interment at Cave Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Friday, February 8, 2013 at the funeral home from 10 a.m. - 1 p.m.
