PLUCKEBAUM, ARTHUR A., 96 of Harrods Creek, KY, passed away Saturday, March 2, 2013 at his residence.
The Guest Book is expired.
He was born October 27, 1916 in Louisville, to the late Lena and John Pluckebaum.
Arthur was an accomplished boat builder and designer owning Plucks Craft, Prospect Boat Works Corp. and co-owner of Pluckebaum Custom Boats Inc. with his son Dennis. He was a man of exceptional integrity and was a self-made, highly skilled craftsman. His creativity and mechanical aptitude sparked a lifetime career of designing and building one of the finest lines of luxury custom houseboats in the country.
In the 1940's Arthur was just one of a handful of welders in the entire country possessing the unique valuable skill to weld aluminum. He produced his first houseboat in 1945. After building over 500 boats by the 1990's Arthur decided to retire and spend his winter months in Florida and his summer months boating on the Ohio River with his wife of 73 years, "TeeTee." He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and friend. He was a man who will be missed and remembered in our hearts forever! He was preceded in death by his wife Nannie "TeeTee" Pluckebaum; a son, Kenneth Lee; one sister and five brothers.
Left to cherish his memory are his children, Patricia A. Sarin (Lalit) and Dennis W. Pluckebaum (Gail); four grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and his beloved dog Mika.
His family is most grateful for the gentle and compassionate care given by Cindy Vogt and Sadie Blair.
A celebration to honor his life will be held for family and friends at a later date.
Expressions of sympathy may be made to Hosparus.
