Obituary Condolences

KUHL, CARL H. JR., a retired dentist, passed away at The Corinthian on Sunday, August 7, 2011.

He graduated from U of L and U of L Dental School. He served his country in the Navy during World War II on a PT Boat on Borneo in the Pacific. Carl traveled the world on over 20 mission trips using his tenor singing voice to share the gospel. He was an active member of the Gideons International for over 50 years. In later years Carl hosted a television program "Then Sings My Soul" and sang in numerous churches and religious events. Throughout his life he was a mentor to many in serving the Lord with passion and faithfulness. He was an avid golfer and active member of Highview Baptist Church where he sang in the choir. As a member of U of L Alumni Association, he enjoyed following sports throughout his life.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Carl H. Kuhl Sr. and Marie Celine Braun Kuhl.

He is survived by his wife of 62 years, the former Ruth Elizabeth Anderson; sister, Mrs. Dorothy Violette (Homer) of Nashville, TN; sons, Dr. Carl Kuhl III of Louisville and Dr. Mark Kuhl of West Palm Beach, FL; daughter, Sharon Kuhl Owens; grandchildren, Carl H. Kuhl IV, Esther Kuhl Sorota, Warner Allen Kuhl, Emma Kuhl Pitts, Benjamin Braun Kuhl, Rachel Kuhl Smith; great-grandchildren, Reagan Love Kuhl, Carl H. Kuhl V and Vera Elizabeth Pitts; and his niece, Mrs. Jane Marie Violette Schlater (Thomas).

His funeral service will be at 3 p.m. on Friday, August 12, 2011 at Highlands Funeral Home, 3331 Taylorsville Road. Burial will be private. Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. on Thursday at the funeral home.
