GAHAFER, DAVID FRANCIS, 88, returned to his Heavenly Father, Thursday July 4, 2013 at Baptist Health Louisville.

He was born July 4, 1925 in Louisville to the late August and Alma Bosley Gahafer. David served our country in the U.S. Navy during World War II in the South Pacific. He retired from Ford Motor Company, was a member of the VFW Middletown Post, American Legion Post 244, and a member of St. Gabriel Catholic Church.

Along with his parents; brothers, Maurice, Daniel, and Glenn Gahafer; sisters, Libby Beirne, Norma Mays, and Verna Gaus have preceded him in death.

Left to carry on his memory are his wife of 66 years, Doris Miller Gahafer; daughters, Donna Conlon (Larry), Diane Moody (Jerry), and Dorothy Gahafer; grandchildren, Shannon (Mark Bauman) and Larry Jr. Conlon, Lee Moody Nelson (Mark), and Dana Moody; great-grandchildren, Grant and Shelby Bauman, and Taylor and ColeNelson; sister, Cassie Rief Smith; and brother, Raymond Gahafer; as well as a plethora of nieces and nephews.

Dave was a devoted husband, father and friend. He will be missed , forever loved and remembered.

A service in honor of David will be 2 p.m. Monday, July 8, 2013 at St. Gabriel Church, 5505 Bardstown Road. Visitation will be 2-8 p.m. Sunday at Ratterman and Sons Funeral Home, 3800 Bardstown Road.
