I was an end (third string, rarely played) on the Anchorage high football team in 1946 when Jack was the quarterback. He was an amazing athlete. In the late 1990s at a class reunion one of our classmates delivered a sort of eulogy to Jack as the best athlete ever to come out of Anchorage. When Jack died, I wrote to the sports editor at the Courier-Journal asking that he do an article on Jack as not only Anchorage's greatest athlete but as a significant member of three major league baseball teams. No such article ran, nor did he reply to my message.

However, twenty years ago I was writing for a newspaper in Saint Paul, Minnesota, and I had occasion to write an article that featured Jack as an example of why baseball was a good thing.

I have the article if you'd like to have a copy. I can mail it or send it via email.

Though I did not know Jack Littrell personally, I knew his son, Rick. I'm sure the apple does not fall far from the tree and he must have been a great guy. You're family is in my prayers.

I am so sorry to hear of your loss. Please accept my condolences.

I am a baseball historian in my community and I only knew Mr. Littrell through my research. He put up fantastic numbers with Eau Claire in what was his and Eau Claire's last professional season. He was very much loved in our community during his short time here.
