LYKINS, DETECTIVE JAMES EVERETT, 79, formerly of Jeffersontown and now in Taylorsville, passed away Tuesday, July 2, 2013 at the Norton Pavillion Hosparus Unit.

Born in Letcher County, he was a retired Officer and Detective for the Louisville Police Department for over 30 years, a member of the Fraternal Order of the Police and a Navy veteran during the Korean War.

Preceded in death by his parents, Richard and Gleida Lykins; and a brother, Glen Lykins.

He is survived by his five children, James Anthony "Tony" Lykins, Teresa Webb (Lee), Tim Lykins, Missy Lykins and Jennifer Manning (Paul); two sisters, Versa Lykins and Eloise Porter; 13 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

His funeral service will be 10 a.m. Friday at Owen Funeral Home-Jeffersontown, 9318 Taylorsville Rd. Burial will be at Kentucky Veterans Cemetery Central, Radcliff, KY. Visitation will be 2-8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
